Dear brother,
I earlier forwarded you a question to you which I am producing here for your ready reference;
"Dear Brother, Assalam o alaikum, I had forwarded the following inquiry to Tsubaki hair treatment series (shampoos & conditioners) of Japan to inquire about the use of ethyl alcohol in their shampoos: "Hi Tsubaki, Many thanks for resonding to my query. However I would appreciate if you can also respond me regarding whether ethyl alcohol is: -used as a solvent in any of your ingredients; or -used to aid processing of any ingredient; of Tsubaki. I would be waiting for your response. " To the above question I received the following response from company. "Dear, as Tsubaki is using natural essential oil blend into the products and water is not a perfect solvent to extract essential oil, so ethyl alcohol act as solvent for extraction. However we are using compression method (not chemical extract) to extract Tsubaki oil as main ingredient. So, ethyl alcohol only use to extract other sub essential oil. May I know any special concern of the uses of ethyl alcohol so I could answer to your question more specifically?" Pls note that the Company had earlier clarified that they donot use any animal or human ingredients. I request you to kindly clarify about its halal status. Waiting for your earnest response. JazakAllah."
To my above question you responded not to use it.
I sent the following reply to company:
"Dear Tsubaki, Many thanks for responding to my query. I really appreciate the integrity and concern you have shown to respond to my query. However being a muslim consumer, I am reluctant in using any product that contains either animal ingredients or alcohol or alcohol/animal derived ingredients. I would be waiting for the time when Tsubaki uses any solvent other than ethyl alcohol to make it suitable for use for Muslim consumers. Many thanks for all your cooperation and facilitation."
To my above reply the company responded as follows:
Dear customer, I guess you are Malaysian Muslim, base on JAKIM rules, alcohol in medical and cosmetic field is considered halal as the alcohol we using is denaturated alcohol,it is different from the alcohol for consuming purpose. For intance, doctor will apply alcohol for you before injection, the purpose is to kill bacteria on skin. As well as cosmetics and shampoo, alcohol in the shampoo can keep the content fresh from bacteria beside to work as solvent. I hope I able to answer your question, please feel safe for the products as all Tsubaki items are approved by KKM."
I request you to kindly clarify about its halal status now keeping in view the last response received from company.

Only manufacturer will know the source of these ingredients. If any personal care company says that no animal derived ingredients are used in their products containing above alcohols it means they are obtained from vegetable fat.

It has to be either Cetyl alcohol or butyl alcohol because they do not list ethyl alcohol which is Haram. Cetyl alcohol is not alcohol but fat waxes and it is obtained from marine source and is Halal.
